Rodcorp arrived late at Con Con UK. Missed the democracy bit (which had partly been the point; so read these: Steinberg, Bryant), and most of the 5-minute talks. Talked to some interesting and clever people, including the fathers of Oskar, MySociety, Public Lettering, and mobile interfaces. But failed to talk to many others we'd like, among them Irving, Hume, Coates, Bond, and you. Everyone else seemed to know each other well. And it felt almost like an echo chamber. Imagine the pub being eaten by a giant ladybird with crystal eyes and metal teeth - would London's rebuilt tech culture hold blogging as a principium fundamentale in its belief system next time?*
Some photos, taken by the invisibly Interconnected's Webb:
- Some people up in first-class, with Spence (grinning) and Green on show.
- Some people back in economy (?, ?, Schulze, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) - Who are they?
- Some more people, still in economy, from the viewpoint of the ladybird swooping in to feed (?, Bond, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)
- A glimpse through the first-class curtains, Coates on the laptop screen, mystery man in mirror.
- The pub, people, lamp.
[* It's inaccurate and a little snide of us to dismiss the whole of London's internet community as blog-centric. The envious pine at others' success.]
Well, in the first 'economy' photo I'm 5th from the left on the back row. I can also spot a 2lmc-er and Tom Hume in the photo. Hope that goes a little towards answering the question.
