We're always happy to stand corrected. We got this material from newspapers and the internet. The paragraphs quoted were from a page at notabledeaths.com that is, annoyingly, no longer found at that link. We'll try dig it up.

The Times newspaper (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2092-1502063,00.html) quotes The Independent newspaper (no link found yet, perhaps here?: http://news.independent.co.uk/people/obituaries/story.jsp?story=613721) in citing that "Cornish light? I've got a 60-watt light-bulb and I keep the curtains closed" line.

- Perhaps he said it to an interviewer as a joke? Or never said it at all.

As a daughter of Karl Weschke, I might be allowed to point out some inaccuracies in his biography given by You.
He had not less than five children, 1.rachel the older , 2.Benjamin 3.Lucas 4.Lore ( not Laura) 5. Rachel the Youngest

Hi Rachel, happy to set the record straight by adding your comments, as I did for Lucas (though he later asked for his comments to be removed).

Darlings,
I am sure You are doing a beautifeul job, but
1.rachel the oldr 2.Benjamin 3.Lucas 4.Lore 5.rachel the younger make five , not four children.
Lots of sympathy,
Rachel the older

Rachel (or should I reply with Darling?),

Yes, noted your correction in the post above last time you made it in Oct 06, and I'd like to think that your sympathy wasn't sarcasm.

Do you have any anecdotes you like to add to the post here? We're interested in how people work, which is why the "Cornish light? I've got a 60-watt light-bulb and I keep the curtains closed" was of interest.
