- We watched the tv series of My Brilliant Friend, which is good, and I am now reading the book by Elena Ferrante. It is very good. Darker, and more body horror than you'd expect from the book cover, which seems quite far off what it is actually about.
- I am also reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel because book 3 is out soon, so books 1 and 2 must now be read in haste. It is quite dense and is excellent. Funnier than you'd expect. Perhaps it's easier to keep track of the characters if you've seen the (also excellent) tv series.
- If you wrote a current-day Wolf Hall, would it be set at Facebook and the other big tech titans? Is Elon Musk our Henry VIII? Maybe Zuckerberg is, getting his oxtures hairdried before doing talks so he doesn't look nervous (or so says Stephen Levy's new book).
- Daughter 2 slipped over at school in some mud and got covered. Sadly no photo. She said it was the worst thing to happen to her today, and the best thing was that she saved a worm, which I misheard as "saved the world". There is a story in that.
